Victoria recently hosted a three-day intensive coaching program led by renowned Touch Football coach, Tony Trad. Over the King’s Birthday long weekend, coaches from across the state gathered to enhance their skills and knowledge.
The program covered a wide range of topics, including foundational coaching techniques, talent development, and effective coaching delivery. Participants, many of whom are involved in the DoorDash National Youth Championships (NYC) and The Championships, presented by Inferno, for 2024, shared insights and learned from each other’s experiences.
Under Tony Trad’s guidance, coaches explored innovative drills, challenged traditional coaching methods, and developed more effective coaching strategies. The program emphasized the importance of clear communication, constructive feedback, and adapting coaching styles to suit different age groups and skill levels.
A significant outcome of the program was the accreditation of several coaches. Eight coaches achieved foundation-level accreditation, while thirteen others earned talent-level certification. Notably, Elies El Chaar and Michael Lovett, two of Victoria’s top coaches, were accredited to deliver both foundation and talent-level courses.
This investment in coaching development will have a lasting impact on Touch Football in Victoria. As the newly accredited coaches prepare to lead the upcoming NYC in September, we can expect to see improved player performance and a more vibrant coaching community.
Victoria’s commitment to nurturing coaching talent is evident in its plans for future foundation and talent courses led by El Chaar and Lovett. These initiatives will continue to drive excellence and growth in Touch Football coaching across the state.
